These terms apply to version v0.2.45 and later releases of TalkEdit.
By downloading, installing, or using TalkEdit ("the Software"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, you are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Software on devices you own or control, for personal or commercial content creation. The term and type of your license (perpetual or subscription) are specified at the time of purchase and confirmed in your license key.
This license is per-user — one license covers all machines you personally use. Businesses purchasing a Business license may install the Software on devices owned by the licensee for use by the licensed number of users.
Licenses purchased under a one-time pricing model are perpetual. If we introduce a subscription option in the future, customers who purchased under a one-time model will retain their perpetual license and are not required to switch.
You may evaluate the Software free of charge for 7 days from first launch ("Trial Period"). During the Trial Period, all core features are available. Watermark-free export is included. After the Trial Period, you must purchase a license to continue accessing editing features. Export and project loading remain available indefinitely after the trial expires.
Licenses are purchased via Stripe Checkout. Payment is processed by Stripe; we do not store your payment details. All prices are in US Dollars. Your purchase may be a one-time payment or a recurring subscription as specified at checkout.
30-day money-back guarantee: If you are not satisfied with the Software, email [email protected] within 30 days of purchase for a full refund. Refund policies for subscription renewals are specified at checkout. After the applicable refund period, all payments are final.
After purchase, you will receive an Ed25519-signed license key via email. This key must be entered in the Software to activate your license. License keys are unique to each purchase and may not be shared, published, or distributed. Attempting to circumvent the license validation system is prohibited and will result in immediate termination of this license.
Subscription licenses may require periodic online validation. Perpetual licenses do not require re-validation. Offline grace periods apply for subscription validation.

The Software may check for updates automatically. Updates are provided at our discretion and may be required for continued functionality. Your update entitlement depends on your license type:
The Software is designed to operate 100% offline. It does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. Optional cloud AI features (OpenAI, Anthropic Claude) require you to configure your own API key and send data to those providers at your discretion. See our Privacy Policy for details.
The Software, including all code, design, branding, and documentation, is owned by TalkEdit and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. The Software source code is licensed under the MIT License where applicable; prebuilt binaries are provided under these Terms. Third-party components are governed by their respective licenses.
Content you create using the Software is your property. TalkEdit claims no ownership over your projects, exports, or any media you process with the Software.
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT. THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE SOFTWARE IS WITH YOU.
IN NO EVENT SHALL TALKEDIT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. IN NO EVENT SHALL TALKEDIT'S TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT PAID BY YOU FOR THE SOFTWARE.
Perpetual licenses are effective until terminated. They terminate automatically without notice if you fail to comply with any provision of these Terms.
Subscription licenses remain active while your subscription is in good standing. They terminate upon cancellation, non-payment, or breach of these Terms. After termination, the Software will revert to a restricted mode (project loading and export only).
Upon any termination, you must cease all use of the Software and destroy all copies. The provisions of Sections 9, 10, 11, and 13 shall survive termination.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of San Francisco County, California.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
